Love Local celebrate ‘Apple Day’ in Gloucestershire
Do you remember what a real fresh English apple used to taste like?
With colourful autumn, comes the busy harvest season for orchard fruit and Gloucestershire has some of the oldest traditional orchards and apple varieties in the UK.
Days Cottage who produce the wonderfully natural and 100% pure apple juice we use in our gourmet food hampers, really know how to produce fruit bursting with texture and flavours unobtainable from today’s modern commercially grown fruit.
There is very little this family run business, based on their farm in Gloucestershire don’t know about apples. So much so, that they hold their very own Apple Day to celebrate the abundance of rare varieties they grow and use in their traditional juices, ciders and perry.

Selecting suppliers and produce to make up their unique artisan food hampers is a careful and well considered process, according to Dawn the founder of Love Local for Foodies.
“Our suppliers are chosen for their passion to provide food and drink lovers with produce of the highest standard. We only work with small, local, family run providers in the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire, who pride themselves on using the best seasonal, high quality, ingredients available to them”, said Dawn.
She continued, “We want to help support traditional farming methods and keep traditional family recipes alive. All our suppliers care deeply about the local community and the environment, which reflects in the quality of the food and drink they produce”.
