Seasonal fruits for September treats
Once the children are back to school and we feel that Autumnal nip in the air, it’s nice to enjoy a few seasonal treats produced from the summers harvest!
Here we have chosen three of our top favourite artisan products, where flavours have been created from the previous months abundance of Blackberry’s, Apples (some varieties are ready in August) and Pears.
These amazing and delicious artisan vinegars are produced in the north Cotswolds. Happy consumers use these vinegars for cooking, dressings for salads and to dip rustic sour dough bread into, long with an extra virgin olive oil.
Blackberry vinegar can also be used as a thirst quencher on a hot day, and is excellent as a hot drink when you have a cold or the flu. When you notice a cold looming, take 1 tablespoon of blackberry vinegar in a cup of hot water, or drink 2-3 cups a day if your cold is full-blown.
And what beautiful bottles and branding! Sold on our make your own hamper site.
The best things do indeed often come in small packages. Having won a gold Taste of The West Award, this combination is top of our list for a seasonal snack! A delicious soft set jam packed full of Strawberries, Bramley Apples and fragrant Vanilla.
Another one for the sour dough bread! Or the perfect filling for a Gloucestershire Victoria Sandwich Cake!
A great artisan foodie product choice for your ‘make your own hamper’ option.
Pears – Simply Pear Juice from Days Farm
Often overlooked as a common or boring fruit, there are many surprising health benefits of pear.
Some of the nutritional benefits of pears are that they are an excellent source of fibre and contain Vitamins A, B1, B2, C, E, folate and niacin. They are rich in minerals such as copper, phosphorus and potassium; with lesser amounts of calcium, chlorine, iron, magnesium, sodium and sulfur.
Enough of the boring stuff though, Pear Juice can be used as a delicious mixer for making some amazing cocktails! That’s more like it!
