Crack Open a Cold One This Summer

It’s always tempting during the summer months to test our Love Local stock of delicious craft beers and ciders. But we don’t really have an excuse as we’ve already done that, several times!

During the festive season, we sell a lot of the Sloe Gin and Gloucestershire wine, but now that summer is here (supposedly!), the craft drinks are so delicious and tend to cool us down.

Some all time favourites go down particularly well with our cheeses, salamis, chilli artisan crackers and amazing Paddock House chutneys.

Let’s give you a few ideas for a local craft beer, straight from the fridge and a delicious summer cider, on ice!

Corinium Ales have a particularly light beer that happens to be one of my favourites and great for summertime.

Even if you don’t go for beer generally, I would bet you would like this for a summertime tipple.

Pliny the Elderflower PALE ALE

Light pale ale with aromatic Citrus hops and a delicate dose of elderflowers…refreshing!

Brewed as a one off experimental for a festival a few years back, it proved so popular it became our spring/summer ale.

Won the Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards, Drinks Product of the Year 2014 and voted ‘Beer of the Festival’ (1st place) at Gloucester CAMRA Beer & Cider Festival 2014 and Rugby CAMRA Midsummer Beer & Cider Festival 2014

Suggested food partner: BBQs, salads, light snacks and cheeses.

Perfect summer sipping!

Priory’s Tipple – On to one of my favourite ciders – Priory’s Tipple Vintage!

A rich, dry aged cider for a drink with real distinction.

The vintage blend cider is made from a blend of vintage varieties of bitter sweet cider fruit only. These varieties are called vintage because they have outstanding qualities.

Vintage is a rich cider with deep fruity flavours, prominent tannins and a light fizz on the tongue. This cider is aged in vats during which time the tannins soften to give oaky flavours and subtle spicy notes.

Serve in a long glass with lots of ice – oh and a wedge of smoked Godsell’s cheese at room temperature. That’s with it not in it!

If all this talk of delicious Cotswold produce has left you feeling peckish then why not make your own food hamper today at Love Local?
